Accessibility Statement
We hold our own website to the standard we ask of every agency. Here is exactly where we stand.
Our commitment
Rainier Access is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to our own website — because a Section 508 vendor’s site should be a model of the work it sells.
Conformance status
This website is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the technical standard incorporated by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. § 794d). WCAG defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. We consider this site to be fully conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA, meaning the content meets the standard in full. We re-evaluate against every release.
What we have done
- Semantic landmarks (
header, nav, main, footer) and a single, logical heading order on every page - A visible “Skip to main content” link as the first focusable element
- A keyboard-operable navigation menu with a clear, visible focus indicator and no keyboard traps
- Color contrast meeting or exceeding 4.5:1 for text and 3:1 for interface components
- Form controls with associated labels, hints linked via
aria-describedby, and clearly marked required fields - Content that reflows and remains usable down to a 320 px viewport, with touch targets of at least 44 × 44 pixels
- English and Spanish versions with correct
langattributes and reciprocal language links - Respect for the user’s reduced-motion preference
How this site was evaluated
The site was evaluated by self-assessment using the DHS Trusted Tester Conformance Process together with automated tooling. Testing included keyboard-only operation and screen-reader review (NVDA and VoiceOver), automated scans, and manual contrast and reflow checks.
Known limitations
We aim for full conformance, and we believe this site meets it. If any third-party component or embedded content we add in the future does not fully conform, we will document the specific limitation and a workaround here. As of the date below, we are aware of no outstanding accessibility barriers on this site.
